G'day folks

I've been living and working in Madang for two years now. It has certainly been an experience compared to life back in Tasmania where I originally come from. For the most part it is a very pleasant place to live. The diving is certainly one of the best attractions Madang has to offer.

I learnt to dive here, taught by Leslie Schoon and Tim Rowlins in April '97 and have been diving most weekends in and around here ever since. It's very easy to get spoilt diving here as I discovered on my first dive back in Tasmania while on holidays in Feb '99. Even though the water was some 16 degC, it still didn't quite match the 28-30 degC waters of Madang. Even more discouraging was the 7 mm suit and 15 Kg of lead. Very claustrophobic after the no suit or lycra and 3 kg of weight here in Madang.

My interest in photography lead to the purchase of a second hand Nikonos V outfit while on holidays. I am now going through the very steep learning curve of taking pictures under water. I have a gallery that I will be putting some of the better ones on. Depressingly few of those at this stage, but should get better with time. Just click on the clown fish on the left to have a look.

My wife Tanya is the serious diver in the family. She is not allowed to work in PNG due to the terms of my employment. She has to fill in her time somehow, what better way than diving? Armed with a library of sea life books she gets very determined when she spots a creature she can't identify. Oh, by the way, click on my picture to send email.
